MoonPay taps WisdomTree's $1.2B fund
MoonPay will hold WisdomTree's $1.2B tokenized Treasury fund as stablecoin reserves, plugging 35M accounts into a $15.4B market.

MoonPay will start holding WisdomTree's $1.2 billion WTGXX tokenized Treasury fund as part of its stablecoin reserves. The two companies announced a partnership Thursday that also opens WTGXX to MoonPay's US customer base.
The mechanics of the deal
WisdomTree built an access point into WTGXX using MoonPay's technology stack. MoonPay gets a Treasury-backed asset for its reserve management. WisdomTree gets a distribution channel it didn't have on its own.
The fund seeks to hold a steady $1 share price, the same target as a money market fund, but lives on-chain.
The numbers behind it
The tokenized Treasury market is small but concentrated, and WTGXX already holds a large piece of it.
- WTGXX holds about $1.23 billion of the roughly $15.4 billion tokenized US Treasury market, per RWA.xyz.
- WTGXX logged $466 million in net inflows over the past 30 days, per RWA.xyz.
- Ondo's USDY was the only other fund with positive net flows in that window, at $66 million.
- MoonPay's network spans more than 35 million accounts, according to the companies.
- WisdomTree manages about $176.7 billion in total assets.
What the flow numbers say
The default read treats this as a distribution story: a big asset manager buys reach through a payments company. The flow data says something more specific.
WTGXX is pulling in nearly seven times what the next-best tokenized Treasury fund managed in the same 30 days. Almost every other fund in that $15.4 billion market posted flat or negative flows.
That concentration means one fund is absorbing the category's growth while its peers stall. MoonPay committing its reserve balance to WTGXX adds a second demand source beyond the individual investors the fund was originally built for.
Stablecoin issuers hold reserves in short-duration Treasury instruments already, usually through custodial arrangements with money-market funds or direct bill purchases. Routing those reserves through a tokenized fund instead keeps the same yield profile but adds an on-chain settlement layer.
For MoonPay, that means reserves it can move and prove without a third-party attestation cycle. For WisdomTree, it means a corporate treasury client sitting on top of the retail base it's also chasing.
The 35 million accounts figure matters less than it sounds. Retail access to WTGXX has existed since the fund launched. MoonPay wiring its own balance sheet into the fund is the part that changes the flow numbers, not the promise of future retail sign-ups.
Signals that would confirm or break this
Watch whether WTGXX's inflow pace holds once the MoonPay reserve allocation shows up in the fund's minting data, versus a one-time bump.
- WTGXX's 30-day net flow figure in RWA.xyz data after this quarter closes, to see if $466 million was a baseline or a spike.
- Whether MoonPay discloses the dollar size of its WTGXX allocation in a reserve attestation or transparency report.
- Whether other stablecoin issuers announce similar tokenized-fund reserve arrangements in the next two quarters, confirming this as a pattern rather than a one-off.
