Ether, XRP ETF streaks end same day

Ether and XRP ETF inflow streaks broke on the same day Bitcoin funds rebounded $101M, but the moves trace to price, not rotation.

Two flows stall, one resumes: ETF money moves with price, not conviction.

Spot Ether ETFs posted $48 million in net outflows on Wednesday, snapping a 12-day streak that had pulled in $1.62 billion. Spot XRP ETFs lost $7.2 million, ending an 11-session run that brought in roughly $170 million. Bitcoin ETFs did the opposite, drawing $101.2 million a day after shedding $236.5 million.

The flow numbers

The reversal lines up cleanly across all three assets, and the amounts are small relative to the streaks that preceded them.

  • Ether ETFs: $48M outflow Wednesday vs. $1.62B inflow over the prior 12 days, per Cointelegraph, citing SoSoValue.
  • BlackRock's ETHA led Ether redemptions at $53.4M; Fidelity's FETH lost $26.2M; Grayscale's ETHE shed $23.5M, per Farside Investors.
  • BlackRock's staked Ether ETF (ETHB) took in about $53M the same day, offsetting most of the ETHA outflow.
  • XRP ETFs: $7.2M outflow Wednesday vs. $170M inflow over the 11-day streak, lifting cumulative inflows to $1.68B.
  • Bitcoin ETFs: $101.2M inflow Wednesday, reversing $236.5M in outflows the prior session.

What the price tape says

The default read on same-day reversals across three tickers is rotation: money leaving Ether and XRP funds to chase Bitcoin.

The price data doesn't support that story. Ether fell 3.4% over the trailing week, XRP fell 2.4%, and Bitcoin fell only 1.3%, according to CoinGecko.

Every major crypto asset lost value in the same window. ETF flows track price weakness across the board, and Bitcoin's smaller decline lines up with its smaller redemption swing.

The ETHB detail backs this up. A staked Ether product pulled in $53 million the same day ETHA bled $53.4 million, nearly a wash inside the Ether complex itself.

That's a fee or yield preference inside one asset class, not capital fleeing Ether for Bitcoin. Money moved sideways within Ethereum products while spot Ether funds broadly cooled off after a 12-day run that had already priced in a lot of good news.

Streaks this long tend to break on their own weight. Twelve straight days of inflows into Ether ETFs, and eleven into XRP, left both funds sitting on outsized recent gains just as spot prices turned down.

A single day of outflows after $1.62 billion and $170 million respectively is a pause, not a trend reversal.

What would confirm the shift

The rotation story and the price-driven story make different predictions from here. Multi-day data will separate them fast.

  • Whether Ether ETF outflows extend past one or two sessions, or whether the pattern was a single-day blip inside a longer inflow run.
  • Whether ETHB inflows keep pace with ETHA outflows going forward, which would confirm intra-asset shifting rather than exits.
  • Whether Bitcoin ETF inflows sustain above the $100M mark for multiple sessions, distinguishing a real rebound from one bounce after a $236.5M outflow day.
